Rio Tinto's iron ore output growth in the first quarter
On April 18, Rio Tinto announced its first-quarter production performance in 2018. In the first quarter, Rio Tinto’s iron ore production reached 83.1 million tons (100% basis), an increase of 8% year-on-year and a decline of 5% from the previous quarter.
In the first quarter, Rio Tinto's iron ore shipments reached 80.3 million tons, an increase of 5% from the first quarter of 2017, which was mainly due to the increase in productivity and the reduction of weather disturbances.
In the first quarter, Rio Tinto's bauxite production reached 12.7 million tons, an increase of 12% from the first quarter of 2017; copper production was 139,300 tons, an increase of 65% from the first quarter of 2017; hard coking coal production was 1.1 million tons. Decreased by 30% from the first quarter of 2017.
