Vietnam imported 9.3 million tons of steel from January to August, down 11% year-on-year
According to Xinhua News Agency on September 5, Hanoi, theVietnam Iron and Steel Association said on Wednesday that the cumulative importof Vietnamese steel products in the first eight months of this year reached 9.3million tons, down 11% year-on-year; the total amount totaled 6.7 billion USdollars, up 10.2% year-on-year.
In the same period, the import of basic metals such ascopper, aluminum and zinc in Vietnam was 1.6 million tons, and the import valuewas US$5.3 billion, up 34.7% and 35.9% respectively.
According to Vietnam Customs data, Vietnam’s steel importslast year were 15 million tons, and the import value was 9 billion US dollars.Among them, steel products imported from China amounted to 7 million tons,amounting to 4.1 billion US dollars. The Vietnamese steel suppliers behindChina are Japan and South Korea.
