India's steel output increased by 4.5% year-on-year in the first nine months of this fiscal year
Recently, the Indian Ministry of Steel said in a report thatin the first nine months of 2018-19 (April-December 2018), India's steel outputwas 97.358 million tons, up 4.5% year-on-year, and steel consumption was 71.662million tons, an increase of 8.4%. However, in April-December, India's steelexports fell by 38.5% year-on-year to 4.775 million tons, and steel importsfell by 3.1% year-on-year to 5.908 million tons.
According to the report, in April-December 2018, the Indiansteel company Indian Steel Management Company (SAIL), Rashteria Ispart Nigam(RINL), Tata Steel (Tata Steel), Asar Steel companies (Essar), JSW Steel andJDPL produced a total of 54.154 million tons of steel, an increase of 6.2% overthe same period last year. In the same period, the output of steel products ofother steel enterprises was 43.204 million tons, a year-on-year increase of2.4%.
The report shows that in December 2018, India's steel outputwas 11.422 million tons, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year and a 4.9% increasefrom the previous month. In the same month, Indian steel consumption was 8.339million tons, an increase of 9.4% over the same period of last year and anincrease of 9.2% from November last year. In December 2018, India's steelimports were 548,000 tons, down 2.5% year-on-year and 6% quarter-on-quarter.
