Czech steel exports record in 2018

Jietong News reported on March 26 that according to data from the Czech Steel Union, Jiesteel exported 4.89 million tons in 2018, with a total export value of 108 billion kronor (about 5 billion US dollars), a year-on-year increase of 5.6%, a record. The main reason for the increase in exports is the production of high-end products.

The report pointed out that the EU is the main market for Czech steel products exports. In 2018, steel products exported to the EU accounted for 89%, of which the main export countries were Germany, Poland and Slovakia. According to the Czech Steel Federation, the slowdown in the EU economy will have a negative impact on the Czech steel industry in the next two years.
